Fill Material for Brushes and Brooms

Proex is polypropylene and this particular product gets its' name from the X-shape of the bristle. The most commonly used and versatile filament combination is a blend of Proex and Crimped Wire. This material is really effective and used as an all purpose filament for indoor and outdoor sweeping applications, including damp and humid environments. Proex is not recommended for whatever high temperature sweeping applications.

Nylon is another commonly used fill material for sweeper brushes. It is a highly productive filament that performs well in dry sweeping surroundings and has a long lasting brush life in these applications. Nylon is great for high temperature conditions due to its high melting point and durability. It likewise functions well on surfaces that are rough. Nylon is likewise a more flexible material option and lasts longer in scrubbing applications. When conditions are wet or humid, nylon performs less accurately.

Union Fiber is a mixture of Tampico fibers and Palmyra. This material is very effective for dust control and for sweeping fine debris. As opposed to other materials that are synthetic, Union has a relatively shorter wear life. Normally it is combined with wire so as to provide more stiffness overall.

The Nylon filament called Grit, consists of silicon carbide grit particles. These filaments come in a lot of sizes, like: 070"/46, .050"/80, .035"/180, .022"/120, and .018"/500. The first number is the size of the diameters filament. The stiffer the bristle, the higher the number and the second number reflects the particle size. Grit is labeled similar to sandpaper; the smaller the grit size means more aggressive scrubbing ability.
