During November 2009, for the first time in 30 years, some main streets downtown were opened to vehicle and pedestrian traffic as the main construction was at last complete. In December of the same year, the city started working on the exteriors of some of the buildings on Washington Ave. and McKinley Ave., as well as the two office towers on Mathilda. They also started to weatherize the partially-finished Redwood Square building.
When Nokia signed a lease to make Sunnydale its Northern California headquarters during May 2010, the marketability of the project on the office tower at Mathilda and Washington Ave. significantly increased. Other notable business leaders in the city are yahoo!, AMD and Network Appliance.
