 Sweeper Parts San Bernardino - The city of San Bernardino is known for its ethnic diversity and exceptional scenery. The city combines the several influences from emigrants, varying from the Spanish Missionaries to the Native Americans, has helped this culturally diverse and interesting city develop. The city was named by Father Dumetz, a Franciscan missionary, during the year 1810. The city itself is situated west of the lower desert and south of the San Bernardino Mountains. It is presently the county seat of San Bernardino County and hosts a population of more than 205,000.
The economy is dominated by the government, services and retail businesses. All together, there are over 97,000 jobs provided within San Bernardino, with roughly 20,000 offered by the government, Sixteen thousand provided by retail, and 13,200 offered within education.
Situated at the intersection of the I-215, SR-210 and I-10 freeways, the city of San Bernardino has a strategic location. The region is also near the Cajon and San Gorgonio passes. Within the city lies the Santa Fe and Burlington Northern Railway's Intermodal fright transport yard, and the Yellow Freight System and Pacific Motor Trucking's cross-docking trucking center. There are some warehouses situated close to the San Bernardino International Airport for big corporations, like for example Kohl's and Mattel.
The Riverfront District, situated along Hospitality Lane and close to the Santa Ana River, has been the economic development hub in the city for the last few years. Some large retailers, hotels, office buildings, and restaurants have been constructed here rather than downtown.
In 1994 the Norton Air Force Base was closed, causing San Bernardino's financial system to practically collapse. The jobless rate grew to 12 percent because of more than 10,000 people losing their jobs and as a result numerous neighborhoods were emptied. The area still hasn't completely recovered and people within one mile of the centre of the city have a meager median income of $20,480.
